Sample Sunday: Dave Wintour & Pat Whitmore – “Where Do I Go?”

Good day, good sir and/or madame! This is Queso here on another Sunday, educating the masses on the dopeness of Hip-Hop sampling.

Today, we have “Where Do I Go?” from Hair: The American Tribal Love-Rock Musical. This track is performed by Dave Wintour and Pat Whitmore (with Alyn Ainsworth).

Hair had an Off-Broadway debut in 1967 at Joseph Papp’s Public Theater. This musical features music written by Galt MacDermot and lyrics by James Rado Gerome Ragni.

Yeah, I know–this track is, as Boman would say, “not very hip-hop.” But, you know what is? That bassline. How hip-hop is it? Well, let’s just say that two of the best hip-hop producers to ever grace the boards have sampled it. After the break.
