Sample Sunday: Tears For Fears- “Memories Fade”

Ladies and gents, welcome to another Sample Sunday. It may be a little late, but the Illuminati has been holding me back! Well, not really………….but you understand. This weeks sample is from one of the better groups of the 1980’s. Producing many hits in the 80’s, its only right that the flip comes from someone who does the same for today!

The Sample: Tears For Fears – “Memories Fade”

Created in the early 1980’s, Tears For Fears had nearly immediate success. After forming in 1981, they had their first big hit in 1982 with “Mad World,” which many of you gamers can recognize was re-done by Gary Jules as the trailer song for Gears of War. ANYWHO, after hitting #3 in the UK charts with “Mad World,” they continued to produce hits for nearly a decade until they broke up in the early 1990’s. They have come back together for a couple more studio albums after their initial split, but their success would not be the same. In total they produced 6 studio albums, 2 of which went US Platinum and 2 went US Gold. Some of their hits include “Mad World”, “Shout”, and “Everybody Wants to Rule the World.”

The Flip: Kanye West – “Coldest Winter”

Coming off of his 808’s And Heartbreaks album it was a song that many of us had noticed. Although many have mixed feelings about this album, it was still successful and is eventually growing on those who continued to give it a chance. ENJOY!
