The Slice Extended: Jabee

Jabee is the type of artist whose name you might not recognize instantly, but there is a good chance you have heard his music or even have some in your collection. Steadily working since 2007, Jabee has created an impressive catalog and helped build a Hip-Hop scene in one of the most unlikely of places: Oklahoma.

Born and raised in Oklahoma City, Jabee displayed a love of all things music from an early age and has been writing rhymes since the age of seven. Since then. he has become the face of his city and continues to expand his recognition throughout the Midwest region and beyond. Constantly refining his craft, Jabee has done extensive projects with Mike Waxx, Mick Boogie, Addlib and Chris McCain. These last two years have been a wild ride for Jabee, with excellent collaborations, the love and support of his city behind him, national tours and having the chance to work with his favorite artist, it does not look like thing are slowing down anytime soon for the OKC MC.

Freshly coming off the Run The Jewels tour with Killer Mike and El-P, I had the opportunity to speak to Jabee, who is already busy working on his new album. Along with getting the first details for what he has planned for his next album, Jabee also spoke about having the opportunity to work with and receive mentorship from his favorite artist El-P, why The Game dropped the best album last year, the particulars of working with Blu, confirming a second EP with Thelonious Martin, Deliver Us From Evil, plus much more.

As a special treat for one lucky listener, we and Jabee will be giving away a Limited Edition 7” Vinyl copy of his single “Stephanie” and a T-Shirt. All you have to do is leave a comment below telling us “who you would like to see Jabee work with next” and we’ll pick one winner at random.  Unfortunately, we have to limit it to continental US residents only and it should go without saying, please use a valid email so we can actually get in touch with you.
